Slovakia is ready to continue its friendship with Russia
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that Russia and the EU "need each other" and that he would restore relations with Moscow after the war.
According to RTVS, cited by UNIAN, the politician told reporters that there is no military solution to the war in Ukraine.
If the confrontation ends during the current Slovak government's mandate (until 2027), Mr Fico said he would do his utmost to restore economic relations with Russia.
"The European Union needs the Russian Federation, the Russian Federation needs the European Union. Friendly relations with Ukraine will be very important for us", said the Slovak head of government.
Czech President has opinions and advice to Ukraine: some parts might need to be occupied
According to the head of the government, many politicians are already discussing the need for compromises in this war. He cited the example of Czech President Petr Pavel, who is said to have "fundamentally changed his position" on this issue.
Recently, the Czech Head of State stated that Ukraine should realistically assess the possibility of regaining the territories occupied by Russia. According to him, a certain part of the country could remain occupied for a long time.
Ukraine reacted strongly to Pavel's words. Soon after, he explained to journalists that he had no doubt that helping the Ukrainians regain their territories was necessary. According to the President, he is referring to the "price" that must be paid for this.
