Rapper P Diddy faces new charges
US hip-hop artist and producer Sean Combs, better known as Puff Daddy or P Diddy, has been the subject of sensational new allegations: three men have accused him of drugging and raping them. These anonymous lawsuits, filed in a state court, add to the wave of sexual assault cases against the famous rapper. He has also previously faced federal charges of human trafficking in New York.
One of the alleged male victims claims that Combs drugged and raped him in 2020 when they met in the rapper's room at the InterContinental Hotel in New York's Times Square to discuss business. Another man claims that in 2019 he met Combs at a Manhattan nightclub and was invited to a party in the rapper's suite at the Park Hyatt, where he was also drugged and raped[1].
The man claims that he tried to resist but ended up unconscious from the intoxicating drink. He also said that after the attack, he found out that P Diddy had recorded the crime and later paid him USD 2,500. The third man claims that he was drugged and raped by S. Combs and his record company associates during a party at the rapper's mansion in East Hampton, New York, in the summer of 2020.
The star used his influence and power
Thomas Giuffra, the New York lawyer who brought the lawsuits, said that Combs, a music industry figure and well-known producer, had used his power and wealth to silence victims for years and had not shielded away from using threats.
"This is a long overdue opportunity for the victims to regain their strength after bearing the brunt of the attacks in silence for several years. While the lawsuit will not undo the wrongs done to them, it allows the victims to regain the power and dignity that Sean Combs has stripped from them," the lawyer said.
For their part, Diddy's lawyers said the lawsuits were unfounded.
"These complaints are full of lies. We will prove them false and seek sanctions against any unethical lawyer who files bogus lawsuits against him," the rapper's legal team said.
P Diddy is currently facing serious legal troubles. He has pleaded not guilty to federal charges brought against him for years of raping and abusing women, using a network of associates and employees to stage sex orgies, which were allegedly attended by numerous Hollywood stars. According to prosecutors, he then silenced his victims with blackmail and violence, including kidnapping and physical force.
Back in September, the world heard that he had been arrested and charged with sex trafficking and assault. Several cases have been opened against him, describing him as a violent rapist who constantly intoxicated his victims with alcohol and drugs and then pressured them to keep quiet because of his influence in the industry.
His lawyers asked the court to release him on bail, but after prosecutors raised concerns that if released on bail, he might influence witnesses and try to escape, the judges rejected the lawyers' requests, saying they were concerned about the "imbalance of power" in the case, which could lead to "coercion" of the people involved.
In addition to the racketeering and sex trafficking charges, Combs is also accused of transporting his victims to another state where they were forced into prostitution. The indictment alleges that Combs "harassed women and others for decades by threatening and coercing them to fulfill his sexual desires, to protect his reputation, and to conceal his behavior."
He is also accused of organizing a criminal group that engaged in "human trafficking for sexual services, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery and obstruction of justice."
Combs is currently in detention: he had sought to be released before his trial in May next year, but was refused bail for the third time last month. He remains in federal prison in Brooklyn, New York.
More celebrities may be involved in P Diddy's network: rapper Jay Z is also accused
S. Combs is an influential figure in the US music industry, previously credited with helping to bring hip-hop music from the street to the door of upmarket clubs. His many years in the entertainment world have led to many friendships with highly influential, well-known and wealthy individuals, such as the rapper Jay Z, who is also facing serious allegations[2].
Jay-Z (Shawn Carter), the husband of one of the world's most famous artists, Beyonce, has been accused of raping a 13-year-old girl with P Diddy in 2000. The woman who made the accusation alleges that the two rappers raped her at an MTV Video Music Awards party.
The federal lawsuit was initially filed in October, and Combs was named as a defendant. On Sunday, it was refiled to include Carter. The lawsuit alleges that a friend drove the then-13-year-old girl to an MTV awards event at Radio City Music Hall. She had no ticket and approached various limousine drivers to get into the show or the after-party[3].
The lawsuit alleges that a driver told her that she works for Combs and that she "meets Diddy's needs". He invited her to a party after the show and told her to return to his car later in the evening. Later, the driver picked her up and drove her to the party venue. On arrival, she was asked to sign a document that she thought was a non-disclosure agreement, but she did not receive a copy of it. It is alleged that there were many celebrities and well-known people at the party, many of whom were using marijuana and cocaine.
The 13-year-old was offered a drink, which made her feel "intoxicated and made her feel like she needed to lie down". She went to her room to lie down and was soon followed by P Diddy and Jay Z. The lawsuit alleges that Carter then removed her clothes and raped her, while Combs and an unnamed celebrity watched. Combs then also raped her while Carter and the same woman watched.
Jay Z denies the allegations and has attacked the alleged victim's lawyer, Tony Buzbee, for pressuring and blackmailing the rapper to settle out of court. Jay Z's lawyers have filed a motion with the court to disclose the identity of the woman who made the accusations or to dismiss the case. They also asked for the case to be expedited "because of the highly sensitive nature of this case and the intense media attention it has generated".
