Masturbation rooms are offered instead of coffee breaks

You can never have too much sex, as some Cypriot employers apparently believe. As it is now popular for companies to take care of their employees by giving them extra benefits, Stripchat, an adult website in Cyprus, has offered, in addition to a dental treatment plan and free coffee, employees the chance to relax in one of four masturbation capsules during work hours, and the company promises to pay for their time there.

The company announces that employees who want to relieve stress in a way that is unusual in the workplace will be given 30-minute paid breaks specifically for masturbation, also known as "jack it". The introduction of such capsules in the workplace was allegedly prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic and the stress that still affects workers even after its end[1]. But will workers be so bold as to masturbate in the workplace when four capsules have to be shared with 200 employees?

These capsules, which look like futuristic balls, are equipped with 4K screens, Oculus Quest VR headsets, wipes and a comfortable chair for masturbation. The employer promises to provide the lubricant.

However, Stripchat is not the first company to go down the route of legal masturbation in the workplace. The Spanish porn company Erika Lust Films also carried out a social sex experiment back in 2022 and, as employees shared their experiences in a publicly released video, the opportunity to masturbate in the workplace has reportedly improved their attitudes and productivity[2].

Erika Lust, the pornographic director who came up with the idea, said she decided to introduce this policy in the workplace after the coronavirus pandemic when employees were becoming less attentive and less energized. As a result, the company decided to stop employees from working with pornographic material and to become part of it themselves...

According to Lust, the sex experiment has been successful in relaxing employees, improving performance, and making it easier for people to talk about self-fulfillment both in and out of the workplace.

Masturbation in the workplace is more common than one might think

While the word "masturbation" may not sound pleasant or cozy in the workplace, it is more common than you might think. And regardless of whether or not the workplace has facilities for employees to achieve the big "O", an informal survey conducted by a writer for Time Out New York found that almost 40% of respondents masturbate at work. And the interesting detail is that the survey was conducted back in 2015, when working from home was not so popular.

Yellow Octopus, an online shop, conducted a similar survey during the COVID-19 pandemic, asking 1,000 people from the US, Australia, the UK and Canada about their masturbation habits. The survey revealed that 35% of men and 17% of women masturbate at home while working[3].

Even more people watch masturbating at work... pornography. Between 2020 and 2021, an increase in the use of pornographic content has been observed, with particularly pronounced patterns in the periods from 1 pm to 3 pm and from 10 pm to 24 pm in all time zones.
