Paraguayan president fell ill during G20 summit
Paraguayan President Santiago Peña was rushed to hospital in Rio de Janeiro late on Monday evening after falling ill during the G20 summit.
"We inform you that the ailing President Santiago Peña is being treated at the Samaritan Hospital in Rio de Janeiro," a Paraguayan government statement said.
In a medical bulletin, the hospital later stated that Peña, 46, "fell ill in the afternoon" and was taken to a health center for diagnostic tests.
"The Head of State is doing well, and his current state of health is stable," the report said.

Earlier, witnesses said that Peña was taken away from the meeting place by ambulance. Some Latin American media reported that he had chest pains.
"I have spoken to President Peña, who has fallen ill and is in the Samaritan Hospital in Rio de Janeiro. He is doing well and is awaiting the results of medical tests", Paraguayan Vice President Pedro Alliana said on the social network X.
Paraguay is not a member of the G20, but Peña was invited to the summit, along with a number of other leaders from outside the group, by the host, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
Before his arrival, Peña briefed the other summit participants on his country's economic situation, particularly poverty reduction.
