Coca-Cola recalls more products in Europe
Coca-Cola is recalling 28 million plastic half-liter bottles in Austria because a manufacturing process irregularity may cause them to contain fine metal particles.
Alexander Hengl of the Vienna market agency said on Thursday that this is the biggest recall in the country in the last 25 years.
The company said the recalls are for Coke, Fanta, Sprite and MezzoMix, with expiry dates of 4 February 2025 and 12 April 2025.
Issues with technical errors
Coca-Cola had issues with product recalls in the US last week. This time, it is not the excess sugar. The company explained that a technical error during production may have resulted in small metal chips in some of these bottles.
Coca-Cola indicated that not all batches of these drinks have been sold. Many bottles are still in the company's premises or retail warehouses.
Henglas said the Single Market Agency and its 80 inspectors are monitoring whether stores are removing the bottles in question from sale.
He believes that all of these products should be removed from the market and returned to the manufacturer within a few weeks.
