Musk did not randomly choose the recipients of millions of dollars to distribute to voters before the US presidential election

Elon Musk, a billionaire supporter of President Trump's election campaign, got caught in a legal tangle to help the politician win the election but was eventually acquitted after the businessman decided to pay back the electoral votes he had received in large numbers.

The judge ruled that Elon Musk could continue to distribute $1 million to voters in seven battleground states through the America PAC he set up, over the objections of Philadelphia prosecutor Larry Krasner, who argued that it was "political marketing in the guise of a lottery".

Although Musk, the world's richest man, initially claimed that the winners would be chosen at random, America PAC's attorney, Chris Gober, admitted that the winners are not chosen at random but scrupulously selected based on who best represents their group's values[1].

The world-famous investor has already donated $16 million for this purpose through a program open to registered voters in seven key battleground states—Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin—who sign a petition pledging to support freedom of speech and the right to bear arms.

"Chris Young, director of America PAC, said that the recipients of the money are pre-screened to "get a feel for their personality and make sure their values are aligned" with the group's values[2].

Nevertheless, a Pennsylvania judge ruled on Monday that this generous election campaign can continue because "there is no prize to be won" and the winners "are not chosen at random". It is, therefore, not a lottery, and there has been no violation of state law.

At the end of October, Musk promised a financial incentive to D. Trump's supporters in the election

SpaceX founder Musk announced his generous cash handouts at a Trump rally at the end of October. There, he promised generous compensation for supporting his candidate in state presidential elections and announced the first winner, John Dreher.

Voters can claim the prize by signing a petition in support of freedom of speech and the right to bear arms, organized by Musk's America PAC, which has spent millions on Trump's campaign, and by paying for door-to-door canvassing in undecided states[3].

The $1 million was initially distributed to voters in Pennsylvania, followed within 15 days by a 15-day window for voters in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Nevada, Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin and North Carolina.

Last gasps before the deciding votes: media says Trump and Harris will be tied

Both candidates for the US presidency, Trump and Harris, held their last rallies and made their last offers to win the popular vote.

The 78-year-old Republican candidate kicked off his last day of campaigning on Monday with an event in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he described the end of the campaign as "the end of the journey".

However, Trump added that a new beginning is about to begin "where America will be great again" and spared no criticism of his opponent, Harris, claiming that if she becomes President, the borders of the states will be opened.

Meanwhile, Vice President Harris spent all of Monday in Pennsylvania, a crucial battleground state that is expected to have a major impact on the outcome of Tuesday's contest.

At a rally she is organizing in Philadelphia, it is announced that stars such as Lady Gaga and Oprah Winfrey may appear[4].

Conversely, Trump is trying to win voters' sympathy by promoting various causes, such as fries at the popular fast food chain McDonald's and driving a garbage truck.

The state elections started today, 5 November, but the final results will not be clear immediately - it could take days or weeks.

However, the provisional results should be out as early as Tuesday night.
